Not to cause controversy over the percentage of "historic" vs "replacement" material, but I am curious just how much of the locomotive had to be replaced with either purchased parts, made new parts just for the 315, and how much was complete replacement with all new materials, ie. the new cab.
For what it's worth, and I am not kidding, I have only owned one axe in my life. It's on its second head and about fourth or fifth axehandle, but, I have only owned one axe. That's a lot of firewood.
I have enjoyed following the rebuilding of the 315 and compared to some other rebuilds I have followed, this one has been interesting because it has been so painstaking in producing a locomotive that has been throughly restored to operating condition. I hope that the 315 gets many, many years out of its rebuild.
