As to "last" categories, MacMillan Bloedel Ltd. on Vancouver Island operated a pair of steam locomotives until early December of 1969...Baldwin 2-8-2T (saddletank) 1055 was the woods engine and Baldwin 2-8-2T (sidetank) 1066 was the dump engine & switcher at Chemainus. Montreal 2-6-2 1077 was the standby engine out at Camp & Porter 2-6-2T was o/s at Chemainus (worn tires).
They shared trackage rights with Crown-Zellerbach from Diamond out to the Lakes. Crown was using an 8 stack Baldwin diesel.
M-B woods crew was Pete McGovern, engineer; Fred Lawes, fireman and Jack McAdam, brakie.
The engine crew at Chemainus was either Ed Marty or Bob Strang as engineer and Onni Parta, fireman.
