Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner before other people responded (idiot job you know!), but all of the operations I listed were indeed genuine logging railroads (no trucks!). In addition to the book on the Meadow River operation that PRSL stated, you might also check out "West Virginia Logging Railroads" by William E. Warden and "Argent, Last of the Swamp Rats" by Mallory Hope Ferrell. It is truly amazing that because of rural character of that part of the country, these operations were almost totally unknown to the outside world.
