You know, I had always assumed that CN 949 was 36", I'll have to ask Will next time I speak with him. There is also a 36" 0-4-0 saddle tanker that is 36". I don't really think there is much motivation to lay an extra rail, but if a good group of volunteers were to offer, it could be a possibility. Will spoke with me about plans of converting the Shay to Std gauge, and possibly restoring it to operable condition. The boiler is basically just good for a pattern, due to the conversion and original lap seam construction. The other major problem was an engine set. Will has spoken to several Shay operations, but no one has a spare to sell or a pattern to lend out so a new set can be cast. Also, I beleive this may have been a 2 cylinder Shay as built, but I'd have to check my notes.
The North Fork collection is quite eclectic and very intersting. There is a Std. gauge 0-4-0 swithcer, a MA&PA diesel, a GE 70 tonner (I think) and a bunch of other stuff.
