Hello Roger,
I am confused a bit. The old merchants in Georgetown were basically owned by CHS through CHS's nursemaid relationship with Historic Georgetown, Incorporated. (CHS either owned or granted funds for the restoration of the town.) The other merchants that were not hooked into this corrupt circle were bought off by the offer of juicy side payments to the City. Those dollars, which never will materialize, were greedily earmarked for infrastructure and promotions for their benefit. Then there were others like Mark Graybill, eager to make a buck off the demise of the Ashby operation. There were the few very savvy merchants that totally saw through the CHS's big promises and fought back, but they were a real minority.
So who are these new merchants that have moved in? I did not see a whole lot of changes when I was there in October?
