Good evening Rod
I am not part of the merchants group I just know some of the players. If they asked me I would suggest.
My suggestion: 1st continue getting yourselves organized and make sure you all have all the I's dotted and the T's crossed before you step into any ring to fight. With any new organization you need to make sure you are setting goals that are realistic and that you can reach so you become creditable. Once your are established and have some creditability make sure you spend time and money doing things for the community not just for your businesses. You will have a much better chance of getting things done if the community is behind you. After you reach this point go back to square one and do your homework again thinking about the CHS. This is a very powerful group and to get into a fight with them before you are more than prepared is DUMB. Don't forget the CHS will use the Sour grapes and the old grudge as a tool to make themselves look good and you as a new group need to be careful that they can't use that against you.
I think your idea is a good one Rod but IMHO a brand new group that is still getting its self organized to take the CHS on, would be DUMB. IMHO the CHS has proven they are very powerful and they have a lot of political influence so who ever goes after them better be very well prepared or they will get their butts whipped big time.
I find this whole thing very interesting because it is almost like going back to the late 1990's and the C&TSRR. I also understand the anger and frustration this whole thing has caused I had to live and be in business here in Chama during the C&TSRR war. During the battle of the loop I did spend a lot of time reading everything that was available and I was very unhappy with the results. I don't believe the fight should stop I just believe its time to try a new approach since the old approach has been proven not to work. You can see and even feel the anger and frustration in some of the posts in this thread and I believe its time to turn that same amount of energy into trying some thing new. I don't believe but I have been wrong before, that anybody believes it right for the new folks in Georgetown to be punished because of something that happened before they were even in Georgetown. Especially because they are trying to get organized to try to do some thing about it.
