Otto was a lifetime batchelor ,so little was holding him to the house on weekends .He made the most of those weekends , and conmsequently
he made the most of them , since most of his photos were in Colorado . Being a federal employee ,it was a bad-times-proof job ,and he accrued enough vacation time to travel all over America ,as well as Europe . He was frugle ,and held on to his 1937 Ford sedan till the end of his life . Among his photographs 473 appeared the most ,with over 1000 images of this well-travelled locomotive . Otto would photograph specials ,but made a point of buying a ticket on such trains , thus supporting the chartered train .
