I don't want to be a poor sport about this display, but I think it is terrible to treat antique equipment in this manner. These machines are very rare, and if to be preserved for future generations, it should be kept out of the elements. All that is going to happen on the bridge is that the locomotive and cars will once again begin a slow deterioration just sitting in the elements. Moisture will accumulate below the jacket and continue to rot out the boiler shell. The bearings will dry out and moisture will eventually get in them and ruin axles. Not to mention, vandals will crawl up on the bridge steal and destroy whatever they can. Also, the fresh paint will begin to fade and peel.
There are plenty of operating narrow gauge steam locomotives with their trains that cross high bridges that go through routine maintenance and care.and shelter. But, the display over the Cimarron will just sit there and slowly deteriorate. Not a good way to treat historic equipment for posterity..
