I think what John is saying is he has shots that in his eyes are crummy, because he has lots of way better pics, presumably of the same subjects. Years ago Jerry Day scanned a bunch of my 1968 slides of D&RGW during the 3 days we chased that year. I went through and picked the best ones so he didn't have to do them all. I now think I should go back and scan some of the ones I left out, and now that I can use photoshop just a little you can do a lot to make lousy shots presentable. One thing you can do is lighten them a little, and straighten them. So crooked shots can be made to look nice and make the photographer (Me) not look like an idiot. What comes to mind is the shots of 493 we have chasing it from Antonito to Alamosa along the highway. We had a camper in a truck bed, and a rear door. My brother and I had the back door open and were shoot out the back while pacing. We scanned a couple of them, and when straight they looked pretty good. They were crooked cause imagine leaning out a back door and shooting at a weird angle at 493 next to you.
This was the helper running light that we had chased with 483 to Cumbres. My shots were old Instamatic slides, and not 35mm, so they can use all the help they can get, and frankly looked pretty good afterwards. The point is John and I both would prefer to show the good stuff, but then there are times when content is important so why not keep it even if its not perfect.
