Hi,
"a little pizza place that was operated by a local family which served good burritos and other stuff. Someone said this place is no longer open." Too bad. It had a pool table or two and some pinball like machines. Great pizza.
As for the Branding Iron Restaurant, in the early 1990s or maybe in 1984, I spent three-four days there. I ordered French Dip three times. Great tasting food. One time it came on a hamburger bun and one time it was shoestring potatoes, then steak fries, and then crinkle cut fries. Always tasted the same (good) but I look of the food seemed to change. I had a good laugh at that.
I do miss Vera's. Best Sopapilla I've tasted - good and fluffy.
Of course the Dutch Mill was also great at the other end of the line.
