Yes I forgot to mention the Subway in Chama, where we got meals probably every other day. Nice tall chairs for this tall dude and close to everything such as on the way back to the motel from the railroad yard. Also we frequented a couple of local small places on the west side of the highway. One was a little burger joint(One motel owner said they had the best burgers in town), and the other was a little pizza place that was operated by a local family which served good burritos and other stuff. Someone said this place is no longer open. All this talk of food is making me break for lunch.
Part of what makes a trip to the C&TS great is the adventure is still there. Not only in the train itself, but the countryside, and the town of Chama in particular. There is real railroading flavor, and experiencing it all is part of the continuing "Adventure".
