The list is long but here goes.
First experiences were in the 50's and 60's and I really don't remember where we stayed in 1968, probably the Elk Horn Lodge. Had breakfast at the cafe.
1971 Stayed at the Y Motel. We were teens and college guys and it was cheap. Not recommended today though.
1976 Stayed at one of the places across from the yard I think. Was single and didn't care!!!
1981 I think we stayed at The Chama Station Inn, which had rooms on two floors and one side where the doors were faced an ally. Was our honeymoon trip. Got up to use the restroom in the middle of the night and had to step up to the bathroom, and cracked my head on the top of the doorway opening....Not good, not recommended for tall people!!!
1985 Stayed at the Elk Horn south of town. I believe I cracked my head on the porch where you step down to your car!!! Otherwise a nice place, and I hear that is no longer an issue.
1991 Stayed at the Elk Horn
1992 Stayed at the Elk Horn
1993 Was there twice. First was for the Rotary/Scholl Charter, and we stayed at the Branding Iron. They had a restaurant then, and made box lunches for our charter, plus donuts in the morning. It was fine to stay there. It was one of the most modern places in town at the time.
1993 Summer for Friends Work Session. Stayed at Chama Trails Inn on recommendation from someone. Okay, but not modern bathroom, and the ceiling fan nearly took my head off. Also no A/C which everyone said you didn't need, but it was super hot that July when we were there.
1997 Vista Del Rio. Fine place, fairly modern, and run by someone who has ties to the railroad.
2014 Vista Del Rio. Nice facility as always. Recommended.
