Regarding "food to go" the Chama Valley Market has sandwiches that they make, as opposed to what you get sealed in plastic in a mini mart. They are good value and you can eat for two days off of one of their sandwiches.
At the other end of the line, the Home Town Market in Antonito has really good sandwiches in their deli department, made with French bread. They also have really good cookies. We use them for the packed lunches when we run charters out of Antonito that don't include a stop at Osier. I understand the railroad gets their cinnamon rolls there for the first class cars.
