A couple of things to add to what others have said.....
Chama has it all over Antonito when it comes to hotels. There are some places that are very nice and comfortable. A bit expensive? Yes. But as Michael Allen indicated, it is understandable as to why. In general, I look forward to staying in Chama. The same cannot be said for Antonito.
Someone mentioned the Branding Iron and food. IIRC, there is no longer any food available there.
Another person mentioned that the Branding Iron, Vista del Rio and River Bend are too far from the RR Yard. From my perspective, that's a good thing. I am a light sleeper, so I don't look forward to whistles and safety valves popping at all hours. The above-mentioned hotels are quiet places, which is my #1 requirement for a hotel. None is more than a 5-minute drive from the RR.
With regard to food, Chama does have a Subway. The ambience may not be what some people are looking for, but you can get HEALTHY food there, and you don't have to stay there and eat it, or tip a wait staff if you need to get moving to make your train/charter/whatever. In general, I stay away from regular restaurants. Most restaurant food is not good for one's long-term health.
