John: I picked that number of 30% right out of thin air. In your reply however, I do sense some of that passion/bias that I was talking about. I don't for a moment mean that as a criticism of you or your ideas. Yes, there are often as many people seeing passengers off, on their journey as there are revenue passengers.
This type of wishful thinking was also present at the old Stapleton Internation Airport. In the old days, people would often come to see their friends and loved ones go through the ticket check, and walk out on the tarmac and see the passengers walk up the stairs to the DC-6, stop at the top, and wave goodbye.
There was also a museum of aviation close by, with the history of the airport, and airplanes, with many a/c models. It was lovely. NOBODY EVER USED IT, and it was decommissioned and converted back to a revenue generating space.
It is this same kind of wishful thinking we must guard against. In our bias, we wrongly assume everyone around the departing train, feels and thinks just like we do. Not!
