OY didn't I go in 1993?
Well after hearing reports of OY's snow clearing activities in 1993, I went in 1994 when I heard it would run again. Spent 3-4 days in Chama. What a time! Just the camaraderie among fans watching preparations at Chama was worth the trip alone. At one point 497,489, 488, 484, 463, and OY were steamed up. Thanks, John, for your role in making that happen.
I am curious how 1994 stacked up to 1993 and other years OY operated in terms of snow. My impression was 1994 drift depths were not as great as 1993. The deepest drift I saw in '94 was on the approach to Windy Point--up to the shaft of the rotary.
A friend who went in '93 told a story about the rotary hurling a big chunk of ice onto the roof of a railfan's car with a big thud.
