Are you sure those are C&S cars--the second car down looks like a stock D&RGW style stock car and those boxes look like 3000 series boxes. I'm not an expert on C&S equipment by any means--were there box cars similar to a 3000 series? It almost looks like when they were loading up the freight cars for Alamosa once the Monarch branch was to be broad gauged. If it was in 1941 I wonder why the D&RGW wouldn't run them over Marshall Pass and the Black Canon to get them to Montrose and then on to Ridgeway? Great photo Thanks--anyone with more knowledge than me hopefully can answer some of my questions.
