At least the commission has figured out that Amtrak is living proof the the government has no business running a railroad. Anyone remember the USRA?
The Friends, despite sincere good intentions, appear to have a plan of using professional managers to operate the railroad who will supervise others with the technical expertise to do the work. Professional managers lacking specific technical knowledge making all the decisions and budgets is a road map to failure. This tyope of management system wrecked many companies in all types of industries, oil, banks, airlines, railroads, manufacturing, etc.
It would make more sense to elect the captain of the USS Oldsmobile as president.
