The Antonito depot and the fact we all want more riders are two different issues from what I was proposing. The idea was to make use of an engine that was already being partially utilized for that day.
I don't think we want to leave coaches at Cumbres, but the freight cars would seem to be a safer bet, and they don't chew up valuable coaches used at the terminals for regular passenger trains. Get a rider gon, the bunk car with the potty, and a caboose and you have room for 40 people. Limit it to 40, and say it is something special. It might seem more special that way. Maybe it needs to be monthly or bi-monthly for a trial period to see if it will fly long term.
I'm not trying to solve the long-term patronage and passenger train ridership with this one idea, that's for sure! More passenger trains are probably needed and I'll defer that to the folks who are crunching the numbers and doing the marketing these days.
