I'll take a little different slant on this... it doesn't cost anything to dream
. A visit from MI to CO/NM would be pretty cool... a double header with 463, or maybe with 315 thrown in as well, would be pretty amazing.
As for the superheater, they were "soak" engines for a good part of their career, with about the same rated TE. Was 462 rated for less tonnage than the others at the end? She was the last non-superheated one... I thought she could still pull about the same, but the fireman had to throw more coal to make the same amount of steam???
The Huckleberry looks like the best home a locomotive could have, so I'd hate to see her leave that. At times I 've thought it would make a suitable home for some EBT equipment, if a new home for that is needed someday. But I don't get to make those rules, and it isn't fair for me to armchair quarterback that stuff.
