Up until a few years ago a fleet of DC-3s and a DC-4 provided regular scheduled service in the Yukon -Alaska - NWT region. Low and slow, a nice relaxed way to travel. Every summer we have A-26 and Tracker tankers flying around on fire duty. Last summer about a dozen radial engined warbirds flew over en route to the lower 48... awsome sound, nothing quite like it.
Steam locomotives and radial engines -- those were good days when life moved at a slower pace and folks were more concerned with doing a good job, making an honest living and enjoying a good quality of life.
I'm not convinced that the fast paced lifestyle of diesel locomotives, jet engines, and cyber speed everything, is such a great improvment.
