Honorary Steam Locomotives

Yep ,Tom ,that tops all! Those were beautiful planes .The airlines beat a path to the door when the Boeing 707 became available ,and the jets quickly swept the radial-engine aircraft off the big routes ,though they flew a few more years on secondary routes . Where did they all go ? A lot of them became tankers for fire fighting ,though the vast majority were sold to overseas operations .It happened a lot like how diesels swept steam engines out of railroading . I think of that last scene in "Casablanca" , where Bogie sends off Ingrid as the DC-3 revs up .It's not the same with the scream of jet engines !
