I think I'm the only one here to have stayed at all three places in the last five years. Woo hoo. However, the B&B and hotel have changed management since I stayed there, so my experiences are only partially applicable. I suggest you check the reviews on TripAdvisor. You could also check out some of the places listed on the railroad website: [
cumbrestoltec.com]. Earl mentioned the Canejos Ranch, which is listed there.
Nothing much to add about the Narrow Gauge Motel, though in my experience nearly all Motel 6s are nicer. As others have said, the adjacent restaurant is now a pot dispenser, and the motel offers smoking rooms as a selling point.
The Indiana Jones House is a B&B, meaning you will feel like you are staying in someone's house. Comfortable rooms, private bathrooms. If you aren't a B&B person, you might not like it. I found my Steam Train Hotel room to be the nicest of the three places. The rooms are upstairs and decorated with antiques or faux antiques. It was very comfortable. Since I was there, I have noticed that they advertise "420 friendly rooms," meaning rooms that accommodate pot smokers. Not a point in its favor, in my opinion.
To summarize: If all you care about is a shower, the motel is okay. if you like B&Bs or want to sit in the very same room as Harrison Ford and Sean Connery once did, go for the Indiana Jones House. If you want the most comfortable room and/or like antiques, go for the hotel. If you want to smoke pot, the hotel and motel have got you covered.
There aren't too many restaurants in Antonito. The Dutch Mill is my usual go-to, but I have also had a good meal at Dos Hermanos.
