Another early start as I had to be in Realp to catch the Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke Steam train by 10:15 - there was only one return journey on this date so I'd had to book a first class ticket (the cheaper ones had already sold out) so I'd made a booking over the internet and recieved the email confirmation before I set out, no chance of turn up and ride, just turn up and pay CSF200.. As was becoming usual it was the 'normal' route to Visp where I changed, (with sufficient time to buy a sandwich after the previous day's hunger), on to the metre gauge Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn for the train to Realp.
MGB train approaching Betten (I think) hauled by a Deh 4/4-1, I hadn't made a note of the number..
Work equipment at Oberwald for ongoing work in the Furka Tunnel
Final scene before the train entered the Furka 'Base' Tunnel
I hadn't had time for a look round when I found the train, by following the column of smoke - had to rush to the ticket office, produce the email on my phone as proof that I had made a booking and pay before being ushered to my seat just before departure - this was my first picture of showing steam on the DFB - 2-6-0RT F04 hauling the train out of Realp
