As I recall, the C&TS purchased 13 6500 steel flats and all were converted to passenger cars with no regard to keeping one for historic value.
As I have said before (but not frequently), one of each type of freight car should have been stuffed and mounted for future display and occasional use.
I guess the past was forgotten.
The tank cars were great to get back and a few 6500 flat replacements were bought from the D&S.
It seems that only all wood cars jumps out as to needing to be preserved. The 50+year old 9600's are not historic - too much steel to care about. No replacements now for the 9600's. Same (?) for the 6500's.
