The few years in Silverton have not been kind to it, but the subject of neglect of historic D&S equipment at Silverton, Tacoma and Durango was discussed at the May meeting with Al Harper and the Advisory Committee and Al said that as time and funds permitted, he would reinvest in this equipment.

I suspect that 493 and the Silverton museum are things that probably fell by the wayside while the D&SNG has been busy recovering from the 2002 Missionary Ridge Fire. The D&SNG's recovery has been spectacular -- not only has American Heritage (apparently) recovered from that three-week shutdown during the peak of the tourist season, they have *expanded*. The company has recreated the Silver Vista, introduced "Grande Class Rio Grande", purchased land next to the glider port, and even started to acquire the Texas State Railroad!
