I guess my question regarding the Burlington was regarding the fact that I realize most roads had diesels, and yes the Zephyrs were deisel early on, but this shot is a diesel freight, in C&S territory which ran steam very late in Colorado, and in this region. Not sure when Pueblo was desielized by C&S but they ran the 638 down there as late as 1962 when it was sent to Trinidad for Display.
The photo John shows is going the opposite way the steam passenger train is going. The films were shot from the overpass, with the train backing to the depot. The Burlington freight and the steamer on the coal train would have been going the opposite direction from the passenger train you show.
Westbound would coincide with the train we have footage riding, as it pulls into the depot headed this direction as well.
Question? Was not the depot on the north-south joint-line? Where was the connection to go west on the Royal Gorge line. Is it south of the depot or north.
If the train we have is thus facing east, why did he just back into the depot, when he would be going south, or west to Alamosa?
