(2)Steam 804 backs two car passenger train to depot. First is clerestory roof baggage, then more modern coach. Both are Grande Gold.
It's entirely possible that this is Train no. 16 from Alamosa. You'll find several Otto Perry and Bob Richardson shots of this train at the DPL site.
Until the "San Juan" was eliminated, Train no. 15 departed Denver around 5pm, and split at Pueblo. The bulk of the train went to Grand Junction via Salida, but a small consist (RPO, Baggage, and a coach or two) traveled overnight to Alamosa, arriving around 5:30am.
Train No. 16 departed Alamosa after the "San Juan" arrived, and was combined the next morning with the section from Grand Junction at Pueblo for the trip to Denver.
After the "San Juan" disappeared, the Denver-Grand Junction route of train 15/16 was eliminated, and 15/16 became a day train between Pueblo and Alamosa. It left Alamosa about 7am, was in Pueblo from around 11:30am until around 1pm, and returned to Alamosa around 5:30pm.
The last run of no. 15/16 occurred in June of 1953. The first photo below is of the last arrival into Alamosa (by Bob Richardson).
