I heartily second Dave's and John Bush's remarks. As a cyclist and former racer myself, I think this tour may have some economic potential for the community in the future. In terms of any inconvenience (not to mention law enforcement costs) it may cause, I suspect it will have much less impact than say Chama Days.
As John said, anything that brings good, friendly people who enjoy the outdoors to Chama and Antonito is a good thing. Besides, I've long thought that cycling (especially mountain biking) may offer the C&TS a potential new market down the road. Perhaps in the form of some "intermodal" business.
I've seen some unimproved Forest Service roads with great double track potential on the ridgeline above the Gorge. Who knows what a little imagination might produce? The railroad would do well to be cyclist-friendly.
