Ride the Rockies is not a race. It's an organised ride. There is a difference. Most people who ride this are not going for speed but just attempting to finish. Also, their bike handling skills may not be as good as those that race. Which is why they can be a pain to drivers. As an avid cyclist who's done both organised rides and races. I prefer the races for the most part. These people will wind up pumping a fair amount of coin into the local coffers too though. Plus it brings more exposure to the C&TS.
