In due respect to the station telegraphers, a proper artifact for the Cumbres & Toltec would be a telegraphone. It is impressive that such then "cutting edge" technology was acquired for the San Juan extension.
Having suffered thru the Morse code exam for my novice amateur radio license, I was very impressed when I learned that telephony voice communications were possible on telegraph carrier circuits back at the turn of the century.
About 4 years ago Jay Wimer attempted to broker the sale of what was believed to be a telegraphone removed from a nearby booth.
If the authenticity of the device can be verified, then some effort should be initiated to at least keep track of its ownership.
