I very kindly ask what is the elevation were you live?
These cars never go below 7,850. Winters are long, nights get cold, lots of mountain thundershowers in summer, they sit exposed to the elements 8-9 months a year, burreid in, or dripping snow and water. Thats why the green is so faded, some of those cars haven't been painted scince 2000, five years ago! Example, the car Big Horn in 1998 was brand new painted pullman green with gold lettering, I have no Idea what it's lettered now, but it's proble light grey because of the faded paint, and the lettering barely visable.
The only reason I see people liking the new paint is because IT'S THE ONLY PAINT THOSE CARS HAVE SEEN IN YEARS!!!!!!!! Splash them with yellow, who cares, maybe a shade of black or even the color purple and every body will still like it BECASUE IT LOOKS NEWER!!!!!!!!!!! The red is horrible.
Now don't get me wrong, I apreciate all the work the crews have done in my former hometown of Chama, but they need their managment to THINK about the railroad and not the $$$$$$$$$$ they get out of it.
Give it a year or two, and the C&TS will be site of the 1st Barbie Train, then paint the locomotives hot pink with little flowers on the side wile your at it, ehh.
