Why are we all assuming that the narrow gauge would run at 15-25 mph? The roadbed through there is in relatively good condition and if the locos and cars were in good repair then I would think that 40-50 mph would be a more reasonable guess. Of course this would be in the future when everything had been thoroughly rebuilt and equipped for that kind of service. I know that the D&S runs at those kinds of speeds on the flats below Hermosa.
