Dear Doug,
You will be pleased to know that a elevation plan of the WP&Y #90 and 91 are in a story on the engine in Trains Magazine Feb. 1956 page 37. It was only a 800 HP diesel-electric with 50,220 TE; continuous: 24,000 lbs. and I should add that these were successful. I think someone in the list may have has more time than me to review the comparison, may find the the engine at Durango was basically the same locomotive from General Electric.
Just remember that the Durango crew hated the arrival of the new engines as that meant job loss, and following every little problem they had, word went right to the press, aka RWR or others, but really the tracking problems did not keep them from being used for quite a bit. As you learn more about these engines you may see it as I described based on rail industry experience.
