The all too few stories I have read in Narrow Gauge News and here on this BBS all seem to say that 3000 could not stay on the track and that N4700 had tracking problems and was only as powerful as a 2-8-0 and seldom roamed from Durango Yard.
I have seen a pic of N4700 double heading with a K-28 to Silverton - I believe it was in a calander.
I have never seen any info on where they ultimately went or how they preformed. They may have been succsessful on other railroads but not being able to stay on the track to me says that they were unsuccessful on the D&RGW.
How do you spell success?
I am looking for plans as I am considering building a "live steam" model of one, not to argue about success or definition thereof......
