Unfortunately, sometimes we come face to face with a concept that doesn't exactly fit the intended scope here at the Lily (fine place, if a little dry occasionally), but really deserves to be hashed over a bit. One is that narrow gauge steam, no matter how passionate WE may be, is but a very small slice of what is a shrinking railway preservation pie....
The C&TS, EBT, D$S, White Pass, SVRy, and the others don't exist in a vacuum, they can't, and so ignoring a trend, a problem (or even a possible solution!) from a traction, or SG, or even from a non rail related source, simply because it ain't "NG steam" is a recipe fer trouble. I often learn MORE from the off topic stuff than a dissertation on the average number of rivets used in constructing a tender for a K-36

As long as the post is polite, and the poster(s) can show or explain how whatever it is ties in (relevance) with the intended topic of the board, AND it only happens occassionally. I personally feel it should be let stand. It then is a personal choice to read or not.
Okay, guys flame away!
