IMHO A lot of operations could do much worse than follow Strasburg's lead...
While some may have a personal dislike for its multiple gift shops, hokey ghost train story and rather blatant commercialism with good ole Thomas, the condition of its RoW and equipment, and its ridership numbers speak volumes. And with the museum right across the street, it makes for a very pleasant afternoon (You can always send mom off to the local antique shops if she gets too bored.). And, best of all, the kids seem to really like it too.
