ah but you misunderstood me. I wasnt saying the GTl didnt do good things for it - quite the contrary. (I didnt know its service on the GTL wasnt that often - mistaken impression, as I see it in many of the GTL photos)
My point was that it is a car with history, that is used in a SEMI-regular fashion. One very good example of hisoric cars in countinous service are the passenger cars of the EBT. While not perfect (Yes I realize the caboose was just rebuilt, but if I am not mistaken it hadnt been in decades) museum condition they have held up very well. I have road in coach 8 myself and the woodwork looked pretty original.
But, they still havent said a coach in 'daily service' -
