As of the writing of this reply, here is what I know about the dispossion of the C&S 9.
Apparently Asbestos was found on the tender in the form of pipe rap after it was delivered to Antonito. This didnt seem to go over well with the C&TS from what I have heard and they refused reciept of the Locomotive section until the asbestos was properly removed.
About half way to the C&TS shops, the trucker gets a "panic call" from the CHS telling him to do a 180 and take the engine to Strausberg, CO.
Apparently the folks at Strausberg dont want her there either and wont let her in the shops but have agreed to let her sit there on the trailer until the asbestos can be removed at which time she will finally go down to Antonito. So far, she has been sitting there since deliery without much of anything going on whatsoever. I can only assume that every day that locomotive sits on that trailor is costing thm a small fortune and that 200,000 they allocated for her is going to go bye bye very fast.
At this rate, I dont think they will be finished with the pre-whatever inspections by the end fo the year let alone having her ready to run by May.
But seeing as none of us are going to work for any operator but the present one, having that junker ready by next year is really a moot point as there will be nobody to run her here.
