And getting to be the first one to see all these great photos from when we current "Old Timers" were the young whippersnappers that the "serious railfans" (a non-sequitur if there ever was one) had to put up with! I rode the very last 3-day trip about four months later – the Alamosa Kiwanis Club annual Fall Kolors trip at the end of September, 1966 – and the weather on the third day was about the same as for your trip, not the best for the slow color film of those times but I am sure glad we have the photos even if some of them are a bit unavoidably under-exposed.
Enjoy your Steamed Lamb, or Roasted Rhea as the case may be, and be sure Jack gets a good, meaty bone with his dinner!
