Olaf, did you ever get a bear with a train? I did in 1996. I was in Jasper, Alberta and there were two black bears eating spilled grain from the piles that were along the tracks from grain car leaks. In the distance was the westbound "Canadian" at the throat of the yard, taking the track toward the depot. The bears were a track or two over, and continued to eat until the train got pretty close then bolted to the other side of the yard. Only other wild animal that I felt was a neat shot was 8444 at Granger, WY returning from Portland to Cheyenne in 1989. I was at the junction with the line from Idaho and the main to Utah, and the engine accelerated after making the connection, so I shot video longer than normal for the great sound. I was zoomed in, and then 2 antelope decided to cross the tracks right across my viewfinder. That was cool cause it really wasn't planned. That scene is in our "Union Pacific Steam-Volume 1". I believe there are also some cow shots and some horses bolting. Its good to get creative and add something "Different" to photos and videos when it's possible. Sorry I don't have really good access to those scenes from the olden days. Too much work to get the old video machines operating and finding the tapes. Too much bad stuff can happen!!!
