Yes, there were a couple of other incidents that happened too with respect to certain infrastructure being removed and other things. We really meant no harm to Scenic Railways. We were just reporting on the “facts” or what was going on with the railroad as we witnessed it. Scenic apparently thought they should be able to do things without answering to anyone. The commission who got much of their news from the “Telltale” didn’t share that vision. I felt the NGRRA was caught in the middle. Do I regret reporting on the railroad?—- no, I don’t.
Still, the whole thing soured the relationship between Scenic and the NGRRA. There were even NGRRA members told to leave the property and not come back. Some of these were the earliest volunteers, who played a role in saving the railroad. Some NGRRA volunteers left and never returned. I could go into further detail, but I’m trying to play “nice” too.
However, I don’t remember this strife filtering down to the level of the car attendant program. As I’ve said, the Scenic employees seemed to appreciate having someone around to raise and lower those d—ned steps, as heavy and cumbersome as they were.
