I was a member of the Narrow Gauge Railroad Association and worked as a volunteer car attendant 72-73 before any uniforms were worn. As described before, we answered questions, pointed out special locations and worked those heavy steps. I had two cars with steps on different sides so had to lower/raise whichever side where the stop was. Passengers were surprised to learn I was a Police Officer from Los Alamos at that time. Also worked during one snowy winter in the old engine house helping pull tubes from 488. We had the big coal stoves working hard to keep us warm. Around the same time, I and several other NGRRA members spent a weekend at Ken Pruitt's house in Albuquerque operating his pioneer Sn3 layout. Great memories!
