I drove to the top of Baxter Pass in '92 in a Mazda 626. Had to straddle some very deep ruts out of Atchee to Muleshoe curve. Another car came along while I was at the top of the Pass, the only other persons I saw until returning back onto the I-70 Frontage road. Sure felt like I was playing at being the Intrepid Explorer then.
