I made this trip about a year ago with friend EO Gibson, a retired SP Hogger. EO was out on a long road trip and I took #6 out to Grand Junction, CO to hook up for the trip over the Uintah RoW.
The RoW from Mack to the site of the Atchee Shops is unremarkable (and to some degree, difficult to see), so I'll start there at the shop site.
This is the only building still standing. I think it was a machine shop?
Leaving the shop the RR cross a trestle here as it turned away from the West Salt Wash Creek it had followed up from Mack,
Looking up the line towards Baxter Pass. We're headed to the scar that crosses the ridge in the far distance.
A snake that was, at the time of this photo, on the Endangered Species list. I chased it off the road (and the list... )
