This is very true. I have an HOn3 Uintah 2-6-6-2T. A 66 degree curve works out to about 88 feet radius. That is a wee bit over 12" in HO Scale, as HO Scale is 1/87. So.... I sacrificed a length of flex track and bent it into a 12" radius. Hooked up some power, plopped my engine down and gave her hell...
.....it immediately went on the ground. The front engine unit would not bend sideways enough to get it around the curve. One of the few times I know of where an HO model would not go around the curves the prototype could manage
