Great pictures. Yes, that is the machine shop. Afraid that is not Gilsonite you are removing, those are just plain ole rocks - a constant problem for the Uintah. Gilsonite is black and looks like coal, and there is not any on that side of the pass. The tank stored water for the slurry system. If for any reason the slurry flow should stop, the slurry would settle and they would have a heck of a time getting it going again, so if it should stop they could open a valve and let the water flush the system.
