Onward! The North side of Baxter Pass is not quite as spectacular as the South, although this is in the context of the Uintah itself- anywhere else it would be truly remarkable. The North side is more lush in terms of vegetation. Pine and aspens dominate and so you don't get the vistas.
The last of the North side's switchbacks- I think this thing is 60%. Jeez! Apparently the Uintah's 2-6-6-2's had no problem with these curves, but it sure LOOKS impossible. Funny- I don't think an HOn3 brass model could make the same radius in scale!
Lake Andrews at the bottom. Note the RoW around the right shore.
Almost instantly the forest gives way to desert. Now the road goes down the left side of Evacuation Creek while the RR RoW goes down the right. I don't know how accessible the RoW is, but I doubt you could follow it continuously. We were now racing to make the Dragon mine site in decent light, so we didn't really explore this section too closely.
