Hi,
I recalll riding an electric(?) mine train between Harrisburg, PA and Charleston, WV in the mid-1960s. It was very interesting. I also recall a gold mine tour between Blackhawk and Central City.
I think having some sort of demonstration on the EBT of the entire mining process (mine to hopper to interchange) would be quite interesting. Sort of like having a steel mill historic site visit - seeing the coke ovens, and blast furnaces and rolling mills and the slag heap.
I do not know for sure how many tourists this sort of thing would draw.
With the heavy railroad interest in the DC-NYC corridor, the question is why to visit an out-of-the-way (relatively speaking - have to pass Strasburg, and NH&I etc) place when the population centers are along the eastern sea board.
Sound sort of like why Richardson moved the core of the future Colorado Railroad Museum to Golden.
EBT is special, but is it self-supporting?
C&TS is marginally so. D&S is better at it.
FWIW.
