Thanks to your earlier input, and with the help of Ernie Robart, it's been determined that the above westbound train - and the next day's eastbound from Chama with #493 & #497 - ran on August 28 & 29, 1967 (exactly one year before the very last revenue freights over Cumbres). For all of your WAY-beyond-the-call-of-duty help!! Ernie has dug back into his notes as well, and the only question still not answered is whether I first met Ernie and Olaf on August 16, 1966 at the S-curves just uphill from mp 337, whether it was Olaf and somebody else, or two other fans entirely.
It's very gratifying, thanks to you and Ernie, to be able to put exact dates on these ancient photos taken almost two-thirds of my life ago!
